Naturally rot-resistant. Western Red Cedar contains natural oils (thujaplicins) that resist decay and insects without chemical treatment — perfectly suited to Puget Sound climate.
Locally sourced. The Pacific Northwest is the world capital of cedar. Shorter supply chain, kiln-dried locally, and the wood is acclimated to the climate it will live in.
Ages gracefully. Cedar develops a silver-gray patina if left untreated, or holds stain beautifully for a maintained finish. Either path looks intentional.
Real-wood texture. Engineered wood and fiber cement try to imitate cedar grain. Real cedar is the original — depth, knots, and movement you cannot fake.
