Wood & cedar siding — Tacoma & Puget Sound
Nothing matches the warmth of real Western Red Cedar — and the Pacific Northwest is the place to build with it. Cedar is naturally rot- and insect-resistant, ages gracefully, and lasts decades when installed and detailed right. We install cedar lap, channel, shake, board-and-batten, and matching soffits & accents across the South Sound.

Cedar lap and shake on a PNW craftsman elevation, dark forest-green trim and natural stone base. Representative install style for this material.
Why homeowners choose it
Western Red Cedar contains natural oils (thujaplicins) that resist decay and insects without chemical treatment — perfectly suited to Puget Sound climate.
The Pacific Northwest is the world capital of cedar. Shorter supply chain, kiln-dried locally, and the wood is acclimated to the climate it will live in.
Cedar develops a silver-gray patina if left untreated, or holds stain beautifully for a maintained finish. Either path looks intentional.
Engineered wood and fiber cement try to imitate cedar grain. Real cedar is the original — depth, knots, and movement you cannot fake.
What we install
Traditional bevel lap profile in 6", 8", and 10" exposures. Most common cedar look on PNW craftsman and farmhouse homes.
Tight-fit horizontal channel boards for a modern flat look. Excellent for accent walls and contemporary homes.
Hand-cut or perfection-grade shakes for gables, dormers, and full-cottage elevations.
Vertical wide boards with thin batten strips. Farmhouse and PNW-modern signature look.
Tongue-and-groove cedar soffits under eaves — a premium upgrade that ties the whole exterior together.
Cedar entry surrounds, gable accents, window trim, and shutters. Used as accent against fiber cement or LP SmartSide elevations.

FAQ
No, but most homeowners choose to. Untreated cedar weathers to a silver-gray within 1-2 years. Staining preserves the warm honey tone and adds another decade to the maintenance interval.
With proper installation (rain-screen, stainless fasteners, end-grain sealing) and a maintained finish, real cedar lasts 40-60+ years in the PNW.
Per-board cost is comparable; total installed cost depends on profile and finish. Real cedar typically lands 10-25% over a premium fiber cement install.
Clear-Grade Western Red Cedar for visible elevations, A-Grade for shake and accents. We can show samples at the estimate.
